Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Department
Eye care is vital. At Medifirst Group Practices, in addition to the scientific expertise of our physicians, we continuously invest in cutting-edge technology, offering comprehensive and reliable high-quality services.
In this context, Medifirst Peristeri has been equipped with an advanced Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) unit, enabling even more accurate diagnosis and monitoring of eye conditions.
What is Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)?
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive eye imaging technique that provides high-resolution images, allowing ophthalmologists to precisely examine the condition of the retina, optic nerve, and anterior segment of the eye. OCT is a key tool for early diagnosis, monitoring, and management of serious ophthalmic diseases. Thanks to the detailed imaging it provides, ophthalmologists can detect microscopic changes in the retina and intervene promptly, achieving better outcomes for the patient’s vision.
Tests performed include:
- Retina OCT
- Optic nerve OCT
- Anterior segment OCT and pachymetry
- Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-Angio)
- Fundus photography
These examinations are valuable diagnostic tools that enhance our doctors’ ability to provide more precise and personalized care.
OCT is painless, involves no radiation, does not require contrast dye and the examination time is short.
