Your hospitalisation at Athinaiki General Clinic
At Athinaiki General Clinic, we have created a welcoming and safe environment for our patients, providing comprehensive and personalised healthcare. Our dedicated medical, nursing, and administrative staff are here to ensure you have the best possible experience during your stay and are by your side at all times.
Information about admissions procedures at Athinaiki Mediclinic
Please note that upon your admission, you will be asked to make an advance payment (deposit). The amount will be determined by the room upgrade and with the information given to you by the Admissions Office. Advance payments can be made at the Payments Desk (on the ground floor of Athinaiki General Clinic). For your convenience, we also accept credit cards.
What documents should you bring with you?
During your scheduled admission you should have the following with you:
- Your police ID card or passport;
- Your tax identification number (TIN);
- The social security registration number (AMKA) of the primary or indirectly insured person.
- Your insurance card or any other necessary details of your insurance company. In this case, you should know the hospital room class you are entitled to under your insurance policy and inform the clinic.
- Your insurance provider’s authorisation form, if your insurance fund collaborates with our clinic and will contribute to your hospitalisation expenses.
- The referral and instructions of the attending physician, as well as copies of any medical information related to your hospitalisation, e.g. X-rays, diagnoses, other test results.
In the case of emergency admissions, all of the documentary information described above is required and may be submitted within 24 hours of admission.
During hospitalisation
Please inform the medical and nursing staff as soon as possible of any medication you have taken during the last three months and notify them of any allergies you may have.
We recommend that you bring any necessary clothing and personal hygiene items with you. Athinaiki General Clinic has a Wi-Fi connection that you can access.
The staff of the Admissions Office will help you to complete all the necessary forms. They will explain the admission process to you and after the completion of your insurance coverage arrangements (if any), a member of staff will then accompany you to your room.
Short Stay Hospitalisation - One Day Clinic
In line with the latest scientific developments and modern demands, Athinaiki General Clinic offers minor surgeries without an overnight stay as well as therapeutic treatments on an outpatient basis.
The one day clinic operating at the Athinaiki General Clinic means that patients can receive immediate treatment without hospitalisation. Even in the case of surgical interventions, advancements in medical science and technology can now ensure that patients suffer minimal postoperative pain and complications, with the result that they recover fully within a very short period of time.
This significantly reduces the costs associated with hospitalisation and also has a positive impact on patientpsychology of as they know that they will shortly return safely to the familiar environment of home.
Visiting hours
Visiting hours for patients of the clinic are 11:30 – 13:30 and 17:30 – 21:00, daily.
- It is recommended to avoid having more than one visitor per patient in the room during visiting hours.
- After 21:00, only the person who has been granted permission to stay with you by the head of nursing, will be allowed to stay in your room.
- During medical visits, medical/nursing procedures, when protective measures are taken or during patient rest periods, the presence of relatives, visitors, or companions in the room is not allowed (they may wait in the lounge area on the floor).
- Please ask your family and friends not to visit you if they have a cold or other contagious illness.
- Please follow the rules and precautions recommended by the Athinaiki General Clinic Hospital Infections Committee, which are related to the prevention and control of hospital infections in our clinic. Details of the precautions are posted in the main public areas of the clinic.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the clinic’s premises.
Discharge documents
Discharge forms are issued in the morning hours and can be collected from the Admissions Office.
Financial Settlement
Athinaiki General Clinic has contracts with state insurance funds and collaborates with many insurance companies.
The Admissions Office staff or the Private Insurance supervisor can provide you with the necessary information, so you can determine the best combined cover from your public and your private insurance (if any), in order to keep your contribution to hospitalisation costs as low as possible, or even eliminated altogether.
During hospitalisation
During your hospitalisation, staff from the Patient Accounts Department can keep you informed about your billing and the level of your contribution according to your insurance fund.
For details of the fees of attending physicians, please consult with your doctor before your discharge.
Payment procedure
On the day you leave the clinic, the attending physician will sign your discharge form. To complete the discharge process, the balance of your account must be settled.

Medical file
On completion of issuing your hospital discharge and the settlement of financial matters, you can obtain copies of your medical file 4 days later, following telephone contact with the clinic and submission of a written request to the Medical Records Department.
To receive copies of the medical file, you will need to show proof of identity.
Authorisation
If the file is to be collected by another person, representation authorisation validated by a competent authority is required.
