What is mole mapping?

Mole mapping is an important dermatological examination that can detect skin lesions which could not be diagnosed simply by using a dermatoscope, even beneath the superficial layer of the skin.

It uses controlled forms of light in combination with digital technology to record and analyze moles on any part of the body.

Mole mapping is:

  • painless,
  • non-invasive,
  • with no burden on the body.

For this reason, it is suitable for repeated use and for long-term monitoring of skin lesions.

Why is it important?

With mole mapping, the dermatologist can safely determine whether a mole:

  • is harmless,
  • requires monitoring at regular intervals,
  • or needs to be removed immediately.

Removal is not always the easy solution, especially when the number of moles is large, as it can be painful during the recovery period and may leave unsightly marks.

Accurate monitoring over time

In cases where monitoring is required, mole mapping is a valuable tool for the doctor. Each mole can be analyzed in great detail and compared with previous or subsequent examinations, so that even subtle changes that are not visible to the naked eye can be identified.
