Smoking cessation clinic

New Smoking Cessation Clinic at Medifirst – at this step, you won’t be alone

The hard part isn’t saying “I’m quitting.” It’s what happens next. At the three Medifirst Multi-Clinics, a new Smoking Cessation Clinic is now available, carried out by a specialized pulmonologist.

It is a structured support program for those who wish to quit smoking, combining medical monitoring, counseling support, and the administration of specialized medication, if deemed necessary.

or by phone:

From February 18 to March 31, the first visit is offered at a preferential price of €20, which includes one free follow-up appointment after 15 days. Telephone support is provided throughout the duration of the program.

Interested individuals can schedule their appointment by phone.

Support that makes a difference

The process begins with a structured questionnaire and a specialized assessment that includes evaluating nicotine dependence, the level of motivation to quit, and taking a medical history.

Based on this information, a personalized support plan is designed, which includes:

  • Counseling for managing withdrawal symptoms.
  • Training in strategies to manage the triggers that lead to smoking.
  • Continuous monitoring of progress.
  • Combined use of medication therapy when needed. The choice of medication is made on an individualized basis, taking into account the medical history and the level of dependence.
The program typically lasts three months, and the doctor provides guidance and support throughout the entire effort, including phone communication when needed. Targeted and structured support significantly increases the chances of quitting permanently compared to an attempt without guidance.

The data speak for themselves

In Greece, around 4 in 10 people over the age of 15 say they smoke regularly (conventional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or heated tobacco products), while nearly one quarter of deaths are linked to active or passive smoking.

Although most people are aware of the effects, only a small percentage have sought help from specialists.

Quitting smoking: a life-changing decision for many reasons

  • Within a few hours, carbon monoxide levels in the blood decrease and oxygenation improves.
  • After a few days, taste and smell return.
  • Within 1 year, the risk of heart disease decreases by around 50%.
  • Within 5–10 years, the risk of stroke and many types of cancer is significantly reduced.
  • Within 10 years, the risk of death from lung cancer decreases by about 50%.
